Nokia recently unveiled a new feature phone at MWC 2013, on the very first day of its commencement – along with 3 other devices. Nokia 301 has a 3.2 megapixel camera with surprising features like Panorama, 3G enabled, optional dual SIM support and vibrant colors. Yes, for the first time, you can shoot a panorama picture using a entry-level series 40 mobile phone. Let’s take a closer look at the specifications of Nokia 301, its features and a few other details.

Design

Nokia 301 Front

Well, nothing fancy here – just a normal phone with a 2.4-inch display and an alphanumeric keypad. Though, the back-side looks really cool as it’s similar to the design we see on high-end Lumia smartphones, like Lumia 920 and 900. It weighs just 100.5 grams and the thickness measures 12.5 mm. The LCD display provides a resolution up to 320 x 240 (QVGA) 18-bit HighColor with 4:3 aspect ratio and 166 ppi density.

Camera

Nokia 301 Back

You can say it tastes a bit like high-end lumia smartphones. A few of the design and camera features are inspired from them. It has a 3.2 MP camera sensor with ability to capture images up to 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution and 3x digital zoom. There is no flash though. Apart from the normal image mode, you can utilize 4 other modes namely, Panorama, Sequence, Self-timer and video.

One unique and impressive thing when you take your own photo is, it tells you (literally) how to position your face to fit it properly in the frame using voice prompts. Once you’re done with taking a photograph, you can easily share to social networks like Facebook, Twitter, etc. or send it directly to your friend’s phone using the Slam technology.

Software and Apps

Although it’s a feature phone with Series 40 interface, but it still provides some decent and useful apps. To name a few, there is Facebook (including chat), Whatsapp, eBuddy, lite version of email app, Dictionary and Twitter preloaded. You can sync your contacts, calendar and emails easily. The built-in Nokia Xpress browser provides up to 90% data compression and thus, better internet experience.

Hardware and Connectivity

Let’s talk about storage memory first. Of course, there is internal memory available – with 64 MB of RAM. It supports microSD card up to 32 GB as well. It comes with Bluetooth v3.0 – which provides faster file transfer speed. A couple of great things about it is – 3.5G technology and amazing battery backup.

3.5G connectivity provides high-speed internet experience, combined with video streaming ability – you can watch videos on YouTube and other sites without buffering (depends on your data plan too). It packs a 1200 mAh battery, which provides stunning standby time of up to 39 days on 3G (single SIM version) and talk-time of 6 hours on 3G and 20 hours on 2G.
