WhatsApp Introduces Voice Messages (PTT) – How to Send it?



Better late than never, WhatsApp finally introduces Voice Messages (Push-to-Talk) for all platforms. Other popular applications already has similar feature, including Line and WeChat. Although, there is already an option in WhatsApp to send voice memo, but it was a bit different and not much people really use it. And after aggressive advertising by WeChat and Line, users have been eagerly waiting for something similar for WhatsApp too.

Sending a voice message is quite simple, it’s different for each platform though. If you haven’t got the feature yet, don’t lose your patience. WhatsApp has started rolling it out for everyone, you’ll be getting it anytime soon. Let’s see how to send a voice message on WhatsApp for Android, iPhone, Blackberry and all other platforms individually (it’s dead simple!).

Send Voice Messages on WhatsApp

Android:

  1. Open conversation of the person you want to send a voice message.
  2. Tap and hold the microphone icon at the right of the input box (it replaced the send message icon).
  3. Speak to record your message. Try this is a quite surrounding for best sound quality.
  4. Release the microphone icon and it will automatically send the message.
  5. To cancel a voice message, simply swipe to the left while you’re holding the microphone icon. To send a message again, just start over.

WhatsSpp Voice Messages on Android

iPhone:

The procedure is exactly the same as Android (above).

WhatsApp Voice Messages on iPhone

Blackberry:

To send a voice message on WhatsApp for Blackberry…

  1. Open conversation of the person you want to send a voice message.
  2. Press and hold the space key to start recording.
  3. Speak to record your message while still holding the space key.
  4. Release when finished, and it will automatically send your voice message.
  5. To cancel sending your message, just press and hold the ‘call end key’ before the message finishes uploading. You need to be faster than your internet connection!
  6. If you’re on a full touch Blackberry device like the Z10, tap and hold down the input text box to start recording your message.

Windows Phone:

Again, it’s similar to iPhone and Android (above), only the microphone icon is at the left side instead of right. So, you’ll need to slide to the right to cancel the message.

WhatsApp Voice Messages on Windows Phone

Nokia:

To send a voice message on Nokia S40/S60 (Symbian) phone…

  1. Open conversation of the person you want to send a voice message.
  2. On a touch screen phone, simply press the microphone icon to start recording a message.
  3. On a non-touch phone, press and hold the center key to record your message.
  4. To cancel a message on S60 device, press the call end key or swipe to the left. On a S40 device, press the cross icon.
