Yesterday somebody asked me, “Will windows 8 run on my PC?” I showed him the minimum system requirements for it, but he was not convinced. Somehow I managed to find a solution that he easily understood. I am sharing the same here, the two ways to find out if the latest operating system by Microsoft will work on your Desktop or Laptop computer.

A new and refreshing user-interface:
The first thing you will notice in this OS is the new UI, it’s similar to WP mobiles but on a bigger screen. The metro style UI has tiles all over the screen. Every tile is dedicated to perform a specific function, and yes you can customize them. If you are using Microsoft Windows 8 on a touch screen display, believe me it’s the best thing you can get.
Apps, Store And More:
I believe the biggest update in Microsoft’s OS is 8 – and it’s not only about looks. With this operating system you will get access to the application store, which has exclusive apps to improve the functionality.
Microsoft’s own cloud storage service, Skydrive allows you to save and secure your data on servers and access it from anywhere. It means, that you can access your files, images, customization and other data from other computers too.
P.S.: It is designed to work with tablets too. Great, isn’t it?
Will Windows 8 Run On My PC?
Now you wonder if your old PC is capable of running this latest, yet to launch OS. Well, you need to check! Here I am providing you two options to check if your computer needs any new parts or it’s capable enough. Don’t forget to share it with your needy friends!
Option 1. Cross Check System Requirements With Your Computer’s Configuration:
Below is the list of hardware required to run Windows 8, if your PC has all of them you’re good to go. If it doesn’t, you need to upgrade it – or keep using what you’re using right now.
– 1 GHz (or faster) Processor.
– 1 GB of RAM for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit.
– 16 GB minimum free space for 32-bit or 20 GB for 64-bit.
– Microsoft DirectX 9 (or higher) graphics device.
Further, you need a touch screen display which supports multi-touch to use the touch features (but it works with keyboard and mouse too). Also, to access the application store you need a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768 and to snap apps, a resolution of at least 1366 x 768 is required.
Option 2. Download The Release Preview (No Need to Install):
The other option is, download the release preview (it’s FREE) and when you’ll install it, it will check if your PC is compatible. Plus, it will also check the software’s compatibility with the new operating system. Alternatively you can check if a particular software works with this OS, from here.
Download the release preview and use Windows 8 on your computer for free.
Caution: It has bugs; wait for the stable release if you don’t want to take any risk.
What’s your view about this operating system? A hit or a flop?
